I suppose we could translate “le dernier geste d’Astaroth” as “Astaroth’s last gesture,” but I’m afraid I can’t make sense of that, so I’ll opt for an alternate reading of the noun “geste” and render this as “Astaroth’s last saga.

  1. I believe “geste” means a (heroic?) feat or deed in this context. So maybe it’s “Astaroth’s final accomplishment”.

  2. Inspired by Sendak’s “Where the Wild Things Are”, perhaps? Very similar monster.

    • Could easily be. Those EF cover artists were were aggressive at, er, adapting material for their own purposes.
