Pulp Parade #284: Serving her country

The cover painting and the cover of the December 1944 issue of Amazing Stories, art by James B. Settles. The ISFDB entry for this issue is here. I found both these illustrations at Pulp Covers where the curators have also thoughtfully provided the back cover, another of the entries in speculative transportation in which Amazing Stories took an interest.

Text: “Super Train of Tomorrow! With travel taking to the air, such trains as these will come into being to offer competition to the speed and comfort of air travel This super-train is gyro-balanced and tri-decked. See story on page 2[?]6.”

The future sure ain’t as good as it used to be.

You can read and download the whole issue at the Internet Archive.
