My original tumblr post was here. American illustrator Dave Dorman (b. 1958) has an official site here and a blog here. This image was originally posted on tumblr by hubungus who identifies it as a “Heavy Metal cover from 1978 by Dave Dorman.” It comes to us via erotiterrorist.
Actually, this was used for the cover of Heavy Metal in the early 1990s and appears to date to the 1980s. I know because it so happens I have the issue in question. I’ll see if I can look for it and find the specific year.
