This is Spicy Mystery Stories for February 1940, cover by H.J. Ward, no ISFDB entry. I found this version of the cover at Pulp Covers, where there is also a reproduction of the original painting, which is reported to have sold for $31.070.

I’ll be the first to admit that there are some unfortunate racial tropes in play here, but it was 1940.
“No, Bongo*. I said ‘through fire’ not ‘threw fire’!”
*replace with your own politically-incorrect pet name for a “half-tamed savage of apparent African origin” as would be the custom in 1940, and completely unacceptable nowadays.
“Hey, this woman you sold me is defective. She can’t even boil water! I want my money back.”
