From Éditions du lac, an example of a short-lived series called Vampyr, although it looks more like we’re dealing with a mummy here.
A fascination with Egyptology was also a feature of some pulps.

Maybe a vampire who feigned being a mummy so he could snooze surrounded by wealth and eventually snack on tomb robbers.
In that culture they mummify their dead.
Vampires are undead risen from the dead.
So, vampires in that culture are obviously going to appear like mummies.
Of course, what every horror story concerning mummies gets wrong is that real mummies have their limbs tightly bound, not all loose and articulate.
A bit of knowledge that saves so much time when mummifying people with bog roll in that party game.
