I suppose we could translate “le dernier geste d’Astaroth” as “Astaroth’s last gesture,” but I’m afraid I can’t make sense of that, so I’ll opt for an alternate reading of the noun “geste” and render this as “Astaroth’s last saga.

I believe “geste” means a (heroic?) feat or deed in this context. So maybe it’s “Astaroth’s final accomplishment”.
Inspired by Sendak’s “Where the Wild Things Are”, perhaps? Very similar monster.
Could easily be. Those EF cover artists were were aggressive at, er, adapting material for their own purposes.
