Well. It’s a mercy she was effectively killed by the transformation, I guess. Being aware while wholly immobile and unable to communicate would likely have driven her insane.

    The subject popped up once in the Wotch, what with several people having been petrified or transformed into common objects, but remaining aware. As it was explained, the petrification/transformation process in that continuity also includes a kind of mental buffer, which saves the victims from going guano insane.
