Take a look, it’s in a book, a READING RAINBOW!!! I can’t find a lot of references on the interwebz to this event.
More importantly she speaks in many voices at once. Perhaps she is the second coming.
I still don’t understand how the deep ones mate with horribly mutilated her man girls.

You’re correct that it does seem a little weird that they require the wild mutilations to create suitable mating material. Usually reproduction would more follow more directly from a naturally occurring process of some sort.
