I haven’t been able to find out much about this title (there is a black panther character in Kipling’s Jungle Book called “Bagheera,” which possibly the source of the title. I enjoy pulpiness of the elements here, including a callback to old yellow peril fears and the pretty lady in the coffin.

According to the French-language Wikipedia article, this comic also had its origins in Italy and was republished in French-language editions by Elvifrance. Jimmy Wallestein was a deformed, ultra-violent vigilante.

Shatane was the creation of the prolific Italian artist Leone Frollo (b. 1931). She was apparently a member of the Romanov family who escaped being massacred by the Bolsheviks and, having been taught magic by Rasputin, explores the inter-war world. Among people she meets are Adolf Hitler, Dracula, and Rudolf Valentino. Some people have such interesting lives!
