I got the idea to put it up there from Bram Dijkstra’s Idols of Perversity: Fantasies of Feminine Evil in Fin-de-Siecle Culture. (New York and Oxford: Oxford University Press, 1986). He reproduces a small black-and-white image of this painting on Page 110 thereof.
Professor Dijkstra, writing a work meant to be (among other things) an assault on pornography, managed to create a pretty good roadmap for pornographers.
