I think juice boxes did not exist in 1971?
The technology originated in Sweden with the TetraPak, a multilayer short tube with the ends heat sealed at 90 degrees to each other, pinching the tube into a tetrahedral shape. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ITQCRy91rZE
The company developed the box shape in 1963, but it didn’t show up in the USA until 1980.
So if Elena is American she wouldn’t be asking for a juice box, unless she’d traveled to somewhere in Europe between 1963 and 1971 where they had juice in boxes, and drank juice from one or more.
I remember milk in containers like that in Italy in the 1970s.
This may not be young Elena’s first visit to her adult counterpart’s home time. She may not be that conscious of her previous visit(s), but she’s remembered enjoying a juice box.
