Meanwhile, an agent gets his instructions.

Agent Ulrich gets his instructions from Colonel Madder.

I’m not sure that Lon is a fan of The Wire, but nonetheless I see a certain resemblance between Agent Ulrich and…

So if I ever do get to see the Tales made into a movie, there will be a part for Domenick Lombardozzi.

After the lecture, various worthies dine together at the faculty club.

Professor Gregg, in coughing over Bishop Ayers (as he is identified in the script), is doubtless trying to head off this gentlemanly dinner from turning into something like this:

The lecture continues. Hard to believe that this stern moralism is being delivered from the same stage where, a few months before, Aloysius Kim was getting an award for promoting slightly smutty science in public. But I guess in a proper liberal education one welcomes a variety of different viewpoints.

Colonel Madder continues his lecture.

Google up “stern lecture” and you can get this image, which seems appropriate somehow, and will seem moreso as the plot of this volume unfolds.

Invisible Girl, Heroine: Chapter One, Page One

Sorry about the 12-hour delay on this one, folks. I had a minor crisis (resolved now) that got in the way of prompter posting. Quickly: a war-hero comes to campus to deliver a stern moral lecture.

Colonel Madder sternly lectures at Gnosis undergraduates.

And today, we begin Maureen Creel’s new adventures.

A woman reclining to a piano player is an image with a distinguished artistic heritage.

Progress in Research: Chapter Five, Pin-up

A long chapter, but we wouldn’t cheat you of a final pin-up.

As usual, publication editions are available in Comic Book Archive (.cbz), Portable Document Format (.pdf) and MOBI for e-book readers (.mobi). You can download any of the publication editions directly by clicking on the appropriate icon below.

And that wraps it up for Volume Three, Progress in Research, but stay tuned for Volume Four, Invisible Girl, Heroine, in which we follow the further adventures of Maureen Creel in particular. The mad science naughtiness commences with a cover tomorrow.

Colonel Madder character design

The last of Lon’s character designs for Invisible Girl, Heroine. Colonel Jeremiah Madder, brother to the late senator. A genuine war hero. A man who gave his legs in the service of his country. And yet, something has gone…not quite right with him.

A mad colonel
