I forget; why did they need to hide her at all? Was there any pressure on them, after Ashley’s father was killed by the Old One?

  Special Agents Smith and Macneil feared, with some justice, that if news of how this statue had come into existence reached certain quarters within the government that it would be torn apart in a government research lab by scientists trying to figure out how it worked (and perhaps how it might be weaponized). Their plan for preventing this fate has worked…so far.
